Nickelodeon Is Always On My TV
KIDS May 25th, 2010
If I could count how many times I am asked by my children to change the channel to Nickelodeon, I would be one rich Mom. We just recently got the channel because we saw an ad for directtv Florida specials, where my family and I live, and I told my husband we had to get it! After that my kids have been hooked on Nickelodeon. The funny thing is that I find myself watching it, even if the kids are not in the room. They have several shows that appeal to children, as well as adults.
SpongeBob Squarepants, and Dora The Explorer are my kids’ favorites. I like to watch iCarly and The Mighty B. Both of my children can sing the theme songs to most of the shows, as can I. My husband would like to say that he doesn’t get into Nickelodeon, but when I come in and he is entranced in Fairly Odd Parents, I have to laugh. Jimmy Neutron was one of his favorites, but he wouldn’t admit it to anyone.
I really enjoy seeing my children interact with the shows. A lot of them are geared towards learning, and talking to the kids like they are in the same room with them. It surprises me all the time when all of a sudden my youngest is speaking Spanish. I sometimes know what he is saying, and if I don’t I look it up.
When I was little, we didn’t have channels like Nickelodeon. Public Television was a close as we got. There wasn’t anything wrong with that, but nowadays, our kids know more than we did at that age. I think it is a step in the right direction.
